# ESPrinkler32 Prototype Setup Guide

This is the QR/handoff guide for early neighbor prototypes.

The website is only a friendly how-to. The controller itself remains local-first: setup, schedules, manual control, and all-off behavior live on the device.

## Quick setup

1. Power on the controller.
2. Join the controller setup WiFi:
   - Network: `ESPrinkler32-XXXX`
   - Password: `sprinkler`
3. Open local setup:
   - `http://192.168.4.1/setup`
4. Enter home WiFi information.
5. Let the controller reboot.
6. Open the controller by its shown IP address, router lease, or `http://esprinkler32.local/` if mDNS works.
7. Name zones.
8. Test one zone at a time.
9. Create the watering schedule.

## All off

If anything looks wrong, shut outputs off before troubleshooting.

- Touchscreen: press **ALL OFF**
- Browser/API: `http://<controller-ip>/api/alloff`

## Factory reset

Use this before handoff or when starting over:

`http://<controller-ip>/api/factory-reset?confirm=RESET`

Factory reset should:

- force all outputs off
- clear WiFi credentials
- clear local zone names/settings/schedules
- mark setup incomplete
- reboot into setup mode

## Notes for first-run testing

- Keep first manual tests short.
- Watch the actual valve/zone, not just the screen.
- Confirm the expected zone turns on.
- Confirm ALL OFF stops it.
- Do not leave a brand-new prototype unattended during first watering tests.

## Support note

This is an active prototype, not a polished consumer appliance. Local setup and safe all-off behavior matter more than cloud features.
