# Rev D Garage Build Checklist

## Intent

Rev D is the current maker/prototype lane: garage-buildable, hand-solderable, reworkable, and sourceable. Do not treat PCBWay assembly as the default path for this revision.

## Build direction

- Main ESPrinkler32 board stays simple and field-serviceable.
- Through-hole mechanical relay and terminal-block choices are acceptable when they make repair easier.
- SMD is allowed only where it earns its keep.
- Protected 5V power complexity belongs in the Little Billy module/interface.
- Avoid duplicating a dense USB-C/eFuse/power island across multiple main-board experiments.

## Pre-handoff verification

- Read-only KiCad audit completed for the exact revision being built.
- DRC/ERC reviewed; any accepted warnings documented.
- Power rails checked before plugging in expensive modules.
- Outputs default off on boot.
- Factory reset tested: `/api/factory-reset?confirm=RESET`.
- ALL OFF tested: `/api/alloff` and touchscreen/button path if present.
- Zone naming and schedule save/load tested.
- Config backup/log behavior checked if SD is installed.
- First manual zone run is short and supervised.

## Neighbor prototype handoff

Include:

- QR code or short URL to `/start`
- setup WiFi name/password
- local setup URL: `http://192.168.4.1/setup`
- all-off note
- factory reset note
- brief “prototype under active development” warning

## Do not bless the board until

- the intended hardware actually matches the firmware output mode
- all physical outputs can be forced off
- a reset cannot leave a valve energized
- the Little Billy/main-board interface is understood
- the handoff path makes sense to someone who did not build it
